​Jerimiah Magone
​was a resident artist.
Each student was given a letter of the spanish alphebet and asked to draw something that began with that letter.

​



​When the group was asked to use free things around us to create a picture…
​
 they used flowers to draw this spider.
Under the spider is a pile of broken mirror.
​
For this project, we drew shapes; circles, squares and triangles. Brandie had the group move their chairs to create the shape we were currently exploring...here a triangle.


​For the astronomy class, we start by drawing favorite things from outer space.
Carmen Lorena Rubia Córdova was a guest artist this day. She read a regional story about baking to the group.
Afterwards, we used flour to create several illustrations of the story in the dirt.
 
​Jeff Belmer and Nadia Castro were guest artists for the mask making project.   
The students were instructed in clay mask making…

Brandie Maddalena and Nadia taught plaster mask making too!

The plaster hardened to create the shape of their faces.

​Meanwhile, the clay masks were fired in a local brick making kiln. Generously donated by Edamije.

​After they masks were fired, we used acrylic paint to color them.
Local artist Manual taught a short color theory workshop.

                         
​                    Tree of Self

We used tin foil to create self-portrait sculptures, which each student installed into a campus tree.

Map Madness
First, we colored zerox maps of Baja, next we worked together to create a giant blown-up map of Baja using sticks. We used chalk to labele towns on our 100 foot long map.
VACATIONS
Next, we use the giant map to play an art game called vacations. It teaches geography.
​
One person is the caller. The caller yells the name of a town on the map. Everyone runs there. The last person to get there is ‘out’. The last person ‘in’ wins.
The Candy Man
After a human head drawing class with pencil and paper,
we brought the group outside to collaborate on a giant head.
We used cheap colored sugar from the 99 cent store.
Somos la Musica
Each student tried to paint a picture of music. These paintings were later used in a larger Rosarito installation.
