Let Them Eat Cake
I was invited to do a piece at a one-night political group exhibition event called’ “Let Them Eat Cake” at Art & Rec. at 4612 Park Boulevard San Diego, CA 92116 on 1/18/24.
I created this piece for the event and also titled it Let Them Eat Cake.
It was an acrylic painting on wood that turned into a real cake. I baked the cake. It was red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Delicious, but grotesque. I mixed food coloring with the white frosting and used it as edible paint. Audience was invited to cut the piece they wanted, like voting. I made a red honey sauce that looked like blood and sprayed that on each piece along with a sprinkling of candy bones.
