We got ready at Francisco and Lucy's house. Francisco Cabello and Lucy De Hoya are both well-known artists from Rosarito.
Francisco and Lucy facilitated the Dot-to-Dot event, and attended as Dot-to-Dot artists.

At the assembly, we were surprised with over 400 kids!
We passed out paper and a pack of crayons to every child and asked them to draw a dream they had while sleeping. They got to keep the pack of crayons.
They each had a project to instigate...they dispersed into the crowd of drawing children.

Lisa dressed as a fairy and did series of collaborative floor paintings.
Brandie's costume was overalls with many giant pockets sewn in. Each pocket held the materials for a different art project. This one, she called "The Weaving". About twenty kids worked with her to stretch the rubber into a woven layer. Some kids went beneath it, others strummed it like a musical instrument.

After the assembly, we went to a party with many local artists.

Ramon and Jason did a piece in which they jammed with a traditional mariachi band on experimental music instruments. Jason used chunks of rebar hung from rubber straps to make a variety of sounds, while Ramon used P.V.C. pipe to make a didgeri-doo style instrument.
Later, Jason and Francisco did a collaboration in which they used a bucket of water and a ladel to do a giant street drawing. Sometimes cars would drive through the drawing or families would walk through...eventually it evaporated. |

It was a GREAT TRIP! And the dream drawings from Benito Juarez Primaria (the Rosarito elementary school) were presented in a show at the San Francisco Art Institute through January.
Thanks to everybody!!!
